Jr./Int./Sr. Engineer
Key Responsibilities & Duties:Member-in-Training/Junior- Assists senior and intermediate level engineers; must work under the direct supervision of a professional engineer (P.Eng.).
- Assignments of limited scope and complexity; work, analysis, and calculations supervised in detail.
- Working knowledge of codes and regulatory obligations to ensure requirements are incorporated into designs.
- Prepare reports, calculations, data sheets, and other deliverables per Company procedures, templates, and samples.
- Review discipline drawings and inter-discipline information for compliance with project objectives, Client requirements, Company procedures and industry standards.
- Compile attachments for Material Requisitions and Construction Work Packages.
- Respond to technical questions or concerns with Discipline Lead or senior support.
Intermediate- First level of full specialization in complex applications (e.g. research, design, etc.) and first level of direct supervision in preparation for Lead assignment.
- Plan own work on multiple projects; able to work independently on project deliverables and interact with clients and other disciplines.
- Materials take-off management, constructability management (from an engineering / design perspective).
- Estimate development support.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the numerous department stakeholder’s expectations and expert contributions and how they can contribute to the project success.
- Requisitioning protocols / discipline specific scope narrative development for input into contract / materials requisitions.
- Technical evaluation of vendor / contractor proposals.
- Field engineering / discipline specific construction support.
- Input to support resolution of discipline specific RFIs.
- Active participation in discipline specific HAZOP / HAZID / 3D Model Reviews / JHAs or other formal project reviews as applicable for the respective discipline.
Senior- Authority in discipline specific engineering, design (e.g. calculations), drafting (e.g. production engineering), vendor documentation review.
- Development of the discipline specific engineering section of the PEP.
- Materials take-off management, constructability management (from an engineering / design perspective).
- Estimate development support; may be required to prepare Man-Hour Estimate and Deliverable List and review with Department Head.
- Supervise and provide guidance to a group of project personnel containing both professionals and non-professionals (e.g. technical and non-technical).
- Leadership in discipline specific HAZOP / HAZID / 3D Model Reviews / JHAs or other formal project reviews as applicable for the respective discipline.
- Provide guidance and mentor E.I.T., technicians, technologists, etc.; ensure appropriate procedures and specifications are appropriately applied.
Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:- Jr/EIT: 0-4 years’ experience; holds Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation.
- Int.: 5-10 years’ experience
- Sr.: 10+ years’ progressive experience, 10+ years’ Canadian experience, 5 years’ leadership experience.
- University Degree (Sr.), Technical Diploma or Certificate from a recognized technology program; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Registration with applicable provincial governing body.
- AutoCAD and / or MicroStation drafting software
- 3D design / drafting software (e.g. AutoPlant, Plant 3D, OpenPlant, etc.).
